The heist movie makes a welcome return with “The Italian Job,” a superior remake of the overpraised British flick from the late ’60s. In this update, Mark Wahlberg leads a quirky gang on an audacious robbery of gold bricks from a former partner who betrayed them. The film proves as endearingly zippy as the BMW Mini Coopers the heroes use to execute their scam.

Also in theaters is another pearl from the geniuses at Pixar, whose works such as “Monsters, Inc.” and “Toy Story” have proven this generation’s most surefire animated delights. In “Finding Nemo,” a young clown fish is netted by divers, and it’s up to his overprotective father (voiced by Albert Brooks) to bring him back.

And finally in “Wrong Turn,” a stranded carload of teenagers find themselves hunted by an inbred family of cannibals. No they weren’t driving to Wichita. This gory horror movie takes place in the secluded woods of West Virginia.
