Nancy Kay Thuro

? Services for Nancy Kay Thuro, 58, Wellsville, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville. Burial will follow in Wellsville Cemetery.

Mrs. Thuro died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Olathe Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 14, 1944, in Ottawa, the daughter of Clarence R. and Janie M. (Harkins) Kirkland. She attended school at Eugene Field Elementary in Ottawa, in Homewood and in Williamsburg before graduating from Princeton High School in 1962. She moved to Wellsville with her family in 1964 and lived in the Franklin County area all her life.

Mrs. Thuro was a homemaker and held small jobs until she began at Wellsville Elementary in 1981. She was a paraprofessional in special education for more than 20 years for USD 289 until she retired in March for health reasons. She was a member of Wellsville Baptist Church and Compassionate Friends Support Group.

She married Dwight W. Thuro on Dec. 7, 1962, in Ottawa. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Michael Thuro, Ottawa, Dwight Thuro Jr., Wellsville, and Marc Thuro, Olathe; a daughter, Misti Thuro, of the home; her mother, Wellsville; four sisters, Magdalene Andrade, Prairie Village, Betty Kluender, Kansas City, Kan., Karen Green, Wellsville, and Cherry Williams, Eudora; a brother, Jim Kirkland, Bowling Green, Ky.; and seven grandchildren.

A daughter, Christine Rene Thuro, died in 1991.

Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
