Martha K. Lefholz-Wittenberg

? Services for Martha Katherine Lefholz-Wittenberg, 85, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Eudora. Burial will be in Eudora Cemetery.

Mrs. Lefholz-Wittenberg died Friday, May 23, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 20, 1918, in Lyndon, the daughter of Martin and Lucie (Maul) Abel.

Mrs. Lefholz-Wittenberg graduated from Eudora High School and attended business college in Kansas City, Mo. She worked at the Sunflower Army Ammunitions Plant during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

Mrs. Lefholz-Wittenberg was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Eudora. She also was a member of the Helianthus chapter of Eastern Star, where she had served as matron; Guardian of Jobs Daughters Bethel No. 48; Christian Women’s Club and Meals on Wheels. She volunteered at LMH and for the American Red Cross.

She married Larry Lefholz on Sept. 27, 1941. They later divorced. She married Frank Wittenberg on May 27, 1972. He died Oct. 16, 1974.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane Kennedy, Lawrence; a son, Ron Lefholz, Olathe; a sister, June Thome, Lawrence; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Warren McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the mortuary.
