Villanueva still wavering on decision

McDonald’s All-America basketball forward Charlie Villanueva had hoped to select a college before heading to Florida today for a week of workouts in front of NBA scouts.

It appeared that will not happen.

“That was my plan,” the 6-foot-10 forward from Blair Academy in New Jersey said Saturday after graduation exercises at his school, “but it didn’t turn out to be like that. It’s harder than I thought. I feel comfortable with both schools. I can see myself playing for Kansas. I see myself playing for UConn. It’ll come down to the wire.”

Villanueva said it could take him as long as a week to pick a school.

He still has designs on playing in the NBA next season, but will pull out of the draft by June 19 if he’s not assured first-round status.
