Paul A. Skoch

? Services for Paul A. Skoch, 75, Frankfort, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Baileyville.

Mr. Skoch died Friday, May 23, 2003, at Frankfort Care Home.

He was born Nov. 18, 1927, northwest of St. Benedict, the son of Venzle B. and Rose (Haefele) Skoch. He grew up on the family farm, attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Baileyville High School in 1945. He attended St. Benedict’s College for a year before returning to work on the family farm.

Mr. Skoch was a farmer and raised cattle and hogs his entire life. He farmed south of Axtell and northwest of Lillis before returning to the Skoch family farm in 1962. He retired to Baileyville in 1990. He lived for 18 months at Redbud Plaza in Onaga before moving in April to Frankfort Care Home.

He served on the Northeast Area Extension Advisory Council for Kansas State University, Nemaha County Extension Council and Citizen’s State Bank Board of Directors as the agricultural representative for 14 years. He was also a leader of the Hustler’s 4-H Club and coached baseball in St. Benedict for more than 10 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus for more than 50 years and of the Catholic Church, serving as lector for 25 years.

He married Eleanor W. Bokern on April 15, 1950, in Kelly. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include four daughters, Elaine Skoch, Lawrence, Janet Holthaus, Osage City, Lisa Moser, Wheaton, and Marcia Koelzer, Lincoln, Neb.; three sons, Michael, Hastings, Neb., Mark, Baileyville, and Maurice, Topeka; two brothers, Sylvester, Seneca, and Robert, Axtell; two sisters, Thelma Key, Emporia, and Mildred Mueting, Axtell; and 20 grandchildren.

An infant daughter, Mary Skoch, died earlier.

A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

The family suggests memorials to the church or Catholic Charities Outreach in Baileyville, sent in care of the funeral home, 212 S. Fourth St., Seneca 66538-2007.
