Floods cause 15 deaths

? Heavy rainstorms have caused flooding in southern China, killing 15 people and causing millions of dollars in damage to homes and crops, official media reported Sunday.

The storms, which hit Guangdong province on Friday and Saturday, affected 89 towns and at least 18,000 people have been evacuated from flooded areas, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

The deaths occurred in the cities of Meizhou, Heyuan and Shaoguan, Xinhua said, but did not provide any details. Eight other people were missing, it said.
