FCE and 4-H news

Vinland FCE will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Vinland Methodist Church. Edith Beatty and Freida Martin will be co-hostesses. Freida Martin will give the lesson “Complementary and Alternative Medicine: On the Fringe or Cutting Edge?” Members will answer roll call by naming what, if any, alternative medicines they use.

Vinland Valley 4-H Club met May 5 at Vinland Elementary School.

The club’s guests were the Palmyra 4-H Club, Rhonda Hitchcock, Lindsay Hitchcock, Katie Krystoff, Emily Krystoff and Wesley Callahan. Leah Hoelscher gave the council report. Fair books were handed out to each family. Members enrolled in the sheep, swine and photography projects gave presentations.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. June 2 at Vinland Elementary. The George and Smart families will be hosts.

Several area members of the Douglas County Dairy Club had exhibits in the Southern Nationals Exposition April 10-12 in Stillwater, Okla.

Casey George was selected in the top three for 10- to 12-year-olds. Other members who participated and placed in various categories were Bailey Brown, Dale Baker, Kelly Baker, Kalli Keen and Brittnay George.
