Seabury soccer ties Class 5A foe K.C. Harmon

? Seabury Academy’s soccer team closed its regular season Thursday with a 2-2, double-overtime tie against Kansas City Harmon.

The Seahawks (1-6-2) were down 0-2 at halftime to Harmon, a Class 5A school with an enrollment eight times that of 1A Seabury. But two second-half goals by senior Janie Schneider and solid play by sophomore sweeper Laura Frizell helped the Seahawks forge the tie.

Schneider, a halfback, scored her first goal 15 minutes into the second half off an assist by sophomore Elise Stella. Schneider’s second goal was a bending corner kick.

Heading into next week’s regionals, Seabury will either play Monday if it’s a No. 12 seed, or Tuesday if it’s an 11 seed.
