Doris Mary Longnecker McCann

California, Mo. — Mass of Christian Burial for Doris Mary Longnecker McCann, 81, California, Mo., will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Annunciation Catholic Church. Burial will be in Annunciation Cemetery later, after cremation.

Mrs. McCann died Thursday, May 8, 2003, in Shawnee, Kan.

She was born March 30, 1922, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Edward Leon and Florence Theresa (Allar) Longnecker.

Mrs. McCann graduated from Davenport High School and from business college in Davenport.

She worked in an ordnance plant in Burlington, Iowa, during World War II, then for the Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad before working at the Naval Supply Depot in San Diego. She later worked for J.C. Penney Co. Inc. She assisted her husband in his veterinary practice in California, Mo., for nearly 40 years.

She was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church and the Altar Sodality.

She married F.J. McCann on June 24, 1944, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Davenport. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Terry, Katy, Texas; three daughters, Nancy Keel, Lawrence, Vicki Sifers, Leawood, Mary Lou McCann, Overland Park; and ten grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Weber and Sons Funeral home in California, Mo. A rosary will be said at 7:15 p.m.
