Manning Camp: Youths in the second through ninth grades are eligible for the Danny Manning Basketball Camp July 28-Aug. 1 at Southwest Junior High and Sport 2 Sport. For information, call Angie McClure at 841-7550.

  • KVSA Meeting: Kaw Valley Soccer Association will hold its annual meeting at 7:30 p.m. June 13 at the United Way Building, 2518 Ridge Ct. Four trustees will be elected. Trustee nominees are Shaun Rush, Sue Glatz, Patrick Lindeman and Kim Richter.
  • Junior High Hoops Camp: A basketball camp for any interested eighth- and ninth-graders at South Junior High is 8-11 a.m. May 27-30 at SJHS. For information, call Scott Petry at 832-5450.
  • Hornbaker Scores: Jennifer Hornbaker of Lawrence Gymnastics Academy placed seventh in the vault, eighth on the bars and 11th in all-around at the Level 9 Western Junior National Olympic Championships April 27 in Fullerton, Calif.
  • Wilson Ace: Paul Wilson used a 5-iron to notch a hole-in-one last Sunday on the 167-yard No. 8 hole at Eagle Bend. Ryan Brittingham was the witness.

  • Scramble Champs: Mike DuPree and Chris Ichelson combined for a 66 and won the championship flight of Sunday’s two-man Jayhawk Golf Club Scramble at Alvamar. Randy Conroy and Greg Johnson were runners-up, also with a 66. Tom Dennis and Jim Sandage won the first flight with a 73. Randy Gebhards and Dean Hilker won the second flight with a 79.
  • Mat Gold Medalists: Scott Deo and Ray Walker of the Lawrence Coyotes Wrestling Club captured gold medals in both Greco-Roman and freestyle at last weekend’s Clay Center Tournament. Other Coyotes medalists were Travis James, Chris Ermey, Alex Benson, Ryan Williams and Brett Shoffner. The Coyotes will host a men’s and women’s open May 17-18 at Free State High.   • KU Bike Qualifiers: Jennifer Tilley and Jessica Drees of KU Cycling have qualified for the National Collegiate Cycling Assn. national championships this weekend in Berkeley, Calif. Tilley and Drees will compete in three races against 150 women from 35 colleges around the country.
  • Boeck, Heitzman Win: Dee Boeck of Lawrence and Paul Heitzman of Eudora were age-group winners in the Heart & Sole Classic runs last Saturday in Olathe. Boeck won the women’s 50-54 10K and Heitzman the men’s 70 & over 10K. Mary Ann Watts of Eudora was runner-up in the women’s 55-59 5K and Tonganoxie’s Wally Brawner third in the men’s 60-64 10K.
  • Firebird Grid Camp: It will be May 27-29 from 9 a.m. to noon for all incoming sophomores, juniors and seniors interested in playing football in the fall. For information, call Bob Lisher at 832-6050.

  • Youth Football Camp: City football coaches Bob Lisher and Dirk Wedd will stage a football clinic June 23-26 for students entering grades 3-9. For information, call 832-5050 (Wedd) or 832-6050 (Lisher).

  • City Deadlines: Deadline is 7 p.m. today for registering for the city’s summer U-8 girls fast-pitch league. Also, player registration deadline is next Monday for Holcom League (ages 15-17) baseball. Forms for both leagues are available at Holcom Rec Center.
  • Basketball Forms: Summer 3-on-3 basketball registration forms are available at all city rec centers. For information, call 832-7940.

  • Five-Tool School: Youths ages 6 to 12 are eligible for the Five-Tool Baseball School June 2-5. For information, call Mike Hill at 766-4916.

  • KVF U-14 Unbeaten: Kaw Valley Force U-14 girls soccer remained undefeated (6-0-1) in the Kansas Premier Soccer League in Olathe with a pair of wins last weekend. In 7-0 and 4-2 victories, Abby Vestal had seven goals and an assist, and Logan Keasling and Jenny Brooks scored two goals apiece. Megan Hrenchir was in goal both games.

  • Wilson Wins in Indy: Dick Wilson of Lawrence won the 70-74 age group in the Indianapolis 500 Festival Half-Marathon last Saturday. Wilson’s time of 1:36:59 was seven minutes faster than the runner-up in the 41-man competition.

  • Blackburn Barrel Champ: Deedee Blackburn of Lawrence won the barrel horse racing championship last Sunday at the Topeka Expocentre. Members of the National Barrel Horse Racing Association from Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma competed.
