Villanueva to visit KU

Charlie Villanueva, a 6-foot-9, 215-pound McDonald’s All-American from Blair Academy in Blairstown, N.J., will make an official recruiting trip to Kansas University Wednesday.

Villanueva, who orally committed to Bill Self’s University of Illinois program several months ago, visited U of I, Seton Hall, Villanova and Indiana first semester.

“It was my idea. Coach Self and I have established a relationship,” Villanueva told Dave Telep, director of scouting of theinsidershoops.com.

North Carolina, UCLA and UConn also are on Villanueva’s list of possible colleges. He told Telep he would make unofficial visits to UConn and UNC.

“As far as the NBA, it’s a tough call,” said Villanueva, who has until May 12 to declare for the draft. “They say I’ve got a shot to be a first-round pick. I’m considering it, but I don’t know what I’m going to do.”
