FSHS tennis third at Topeka High

? The Free State High boys tennis squad finished third out of eight schools at the Topeka Invitational Monday.

Ben Cropp finished 2-2 and in fourth place at No. 1 singles in the round-robin tournament, and Alan Martinez took first place in No. 2 singles after winning all four matches.

In doubles, Free State’s No. 1 squad of Eyad Safadi and Matt Schwabauer were fifth at 2-2, and the Firebirds’ No. 2 tandem of Bryan Maygers and Eric Sheu took fourth at 2-2.

“Third as a team is something we could have improved upon,” FSHS coach Jon Renberger said. “But the day was certainly highlighted by Martinez’s first-place finish at No. 2 singles.”

Goddard took first place and Maize was second in the eight-team competition.

The Firebirds travel today to Marysville.
