Mo. prosecutors seek plea in barrel murder case

? Serial killer John E. Robinson Sr., already sentenced to death in Kansas, might be able to avoid the death penalty in Missouri if he leads investigators to the bodies of three missing women.

While Cass County Prosecutor Chris Koster and Missouri public defender Karen Kraft would not discuss details of any plea negotiations, Koster said, “It would be better to conclude the case with one death penalty and eight recovered women, than have two death penalties and three missing women.”

Robinson agreed on Thursday to be extradited to Missouri to face charges of murdering Sheila Faith, her teenage daughter, Debbie, and Beverly Bonner, whose bodies were found in June of 2000. The bodies were in barrels inside a storage locker that Robinson rented in Raymore, Mo.

In January, Robinson was sentenced to death in Johnson County, Kan., for murdering Suzette Trouten, 27, and Izabela Lewicka, 21, whose bodies were found that same month in barrels on Robinson’s property in Linn County, Kan. He also got life without parole for the death of 19-year-old Lisa Stasi, whose body has never been found.
