Kansas City rallies for win – Royals 2, White sox 1

? Chris George and three Kansas City relievers limited the Chicago White Sox to six hits and the Royals rallied for two runs in the ninth to win, 2-1, Tuesday.

George, who will be the Royals’ No. 4 starter, had his best spring outing, allowing one run on four hits over five innings.

“When he came out of the game, he had three pitches working for him,” Royals catcher Mike DiFelice said.

“That’s a good key for success. He was throwing his four-seamer and sinker on the outside corner to get ahead. His changeup was keeping them off balance.

“He did a real good job of mixing up his pitches and getting quick outs.”

Brandon Berger and Ken Harvey had RBI singles in the ninth as the Royals improved to 17-8 this spring. Berger’s two-out single scored James Shanks with the winning run.

Armando Rios’ groundout in the second scored Aaron Rowand, who had doubled, for the only White Sox run.

Rick DeHart, who is trying to win a job as a left-handed reliever, pitched a scoreless ninth for the win. DeHart has allowed just one run in 82¼3 innings in eight relief appearances.

White Sox starter Felix Diaz pitched four shutout innings and allowed just two hits. Diaz, acquired from the San Francisco Giants last July in a trade for Kenny Lofton, has not allowed a run in four outings, covering seven innings.

Notes: The Royals have won three in a row and six of their past seven. … Kansas City RHP Runelyvs Hernandez, who will start the season opener Monday against the White Sox, worked in a minor-league intrasquad game instead of facing the Chicago hitters. In his final tuneup, Hernandez threw seven innings, allowing seven hits and two runs, one earned, while walking one and striking out two.
