Robert M. Lester Jr.

Mr. Lester died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at his home.

He was born Jan. 27, 1923, in Macon, Ga., the son of Robert Milton Lester and Annabel Owen. He had lived in Richmond, Va., and Lawrence, Kan.

Mr. Lester worked for DuPont Co. in Richmond for 33 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of Bon Air Presbyterian Church and Meadowbrook Country Club in Richmond. After he retired, he moved to Harrisonburg, where he attended First Presbyterian Church, served on the board of Harrisonburg-Rockingham Red Cross and was a volunteer at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Moose and Elk lodges.

He married Mary Cobb McEver. She died in 1995.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Laurie Killmon, Weyers Cave, Va., and Margaret Ann Rosenwasser, Keezletown, Va.; a son, Robert M. Lester III, Richmond; a sister, Beth Haynes, Atlanta; five grandchildren and a stepgranddaughter.

Family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home.
