Chris Caruthers

Wellsville

The 125-pound senior finished fourth at the Class 3-2-1A state meet and was the Frontier League runner-up. A repeat J-W selection, Caruthers was 31-6 this season.

Max Connelly

Santa Fe Trail

A two-time state qualifier, the 135-pound sophomore claimed Kaw Valley League and Class 4A regional titles. Connelly finished the year 32-11.

Travis Eden

Santa Fe Trail

Eden has won 66 matches in two seasons, including a 40-7 record this year. The 145-pound sophomore was the Kaw Valley League runner-up and placed third at the Class 4A regionals and third at state.

Neil Erisman

DeSoto

Erisman isn’t your typical freshman. Ranked second at 145 pounds most of the season, he claimed Kaw Valley league and Class 4A regional titles, then lost his only match of the season in the state finals. Colby’s Eric Luedke edged him, 3-1, as Erisman ended the season 33-1.

Kyle Flory

Baldwin

A repeat J-W selection, Flory became just the third state champion in Baldwin school history. The 171-pound junior finished 40-6, beating Columbus’ Kurtis Baylor, 12-3, in the Class 4A final. A two-time Frontier League and regional champ, Flory is four wins from breaking the school’s career mark of 111.

Shane Grant

Eudora

The 275-pound senior is a two-time J-W selection and finished second at the Class 4A state last year. He finished fifth this year, going 27-10. Grant was the Frontier League and regional runner-up.

James Hartshorn

Tonganoxie

Hartshorn was the Chieftains’ only state medalist, placing sixth at 215 pounds. The Kaw Valley League champ was 33-9 as a senior, one of two Tongie wrestlers to claim league crowns.

Derek Lang

Baldwin

A repeat J-W selection and two-time state qualifier, Lang was 34-14 at 160 pounds this season. The junior was the Frontier League champ and finished fourth at Class 4A regionals. He’ll likely pass 100 career wins next season.

Lorenzo Mundy

Santa Fe Trail

Mundy, a 103-pound freshman, claimed the Kaw Valley league title, was second at regionals and finished 17-8 this season. He was one match from earning a medal at his first state meet.

Kyle Patton

Wellsville

A four-time Frontier League champ, the senior won at 119 pounds this year. Also a four-time regional champ, Patton sports a 117-16 career record, along with two Class 3-2-1A state titles. He was third this year and a Metro Classic selection, finishing 35-2.

Mike Paxton

Eudora

Paxton won the Class 4A regional title at 215 pounds, was the Frontier League runner-up and nearly ran the table at the state tournament. He pinned his quarterfinal and semifinal opponents before losing in the finals to Goodland’s Jordan Close. The senior finished 34-6.

Eric Pingleton

Mill Valley

A three-time state qualifier, the 189-pound senior was the Class 4A state runner-up, losing a 1-0 decision to three-time state champ Jacob Strait of Concordia. Pingleton, 109-31 in his career, was 40-1, the Kaw Valley League and regional champ and a Metro Classic selection.

Chad Schmale

Santa Fe Trail

The 140-pound sophomore was the Kaw Valley League and Class 4A regional champion. He finished 32-5, placing fourth at state, one of two SFT wrestlers to medal.

Justin Wiscombe

Santa Fe Trail

A repeat J-W selection, Wiscombe was 32-7 this year. The 152-pound sophomore is a two-time state qualifier and was the Kaw Valley League and Class 4A regional runner-up.
