Victoria: Church van crash results in 2 deaths

Two people were killed and eight injured Saturday after a van carrying a church group crashed into a guard rail on Interstate 70 in Ellis County, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. One of the people was killed while trying to cross the interstate after the accident.

The van was on westbound I-70 east of Victoria about 6:30 a.m. when it hit the guard rail and rolled into the eastbound lanes, the patrol said.

Anne Cripps, 35, of Gentry, Ark., was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene.

Minutes after the van crashed, Bridgette Millsap, 18, also of Gentry, was struck by another vehicle while trying to cross the interstate, the patrol said.

Eight other people in the van were taken to hospitals, the patrol said.
