A man suffered cuts to his arm early Saturday during a brawl outdoors in the 1000 block of New Hampshire Street, Lawrence Police said.

Police were called to the area about 2 a.m. after reports of a fight. Those involved in the incident had fled by the time officers arrived, Sgt. Dave Hubbel said.

Police learned, however, that two men were being beaten by a group of men when one of the victims pulled a knife and cut one of his attackers, Hubbel said.

Police found blood at the scene and traced the cutting victim to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. The man did not want to press charges, Hubbel said. No arrests were made.
