Topeka: Wagnon officially tapped as revenue secretary

Joan Wagnon’s title as a member of Gov. Kathleen Sebelius’ Cabinet got shorter Friday.

Sebelius said she was making Wagnon’s appointment as revenue secretary permanent. Wagnon had been acting secretary of revenue since Sebelius took office in January.

A member of the Kansas House of Representatives from 1983 through 1994, Wagnon served as mayor of Topeka from 1997 through 2001. She then became president of Central National Bank.

In announcing the permanent appointment, Sebelius repeated one of the goals of her administration. “We need to focus on collecting revenue owed to Kansas and I am delighted that Joan has joined this effort,” Sebelius said.
