KSU unveils All-Century team members

? Mitch Richmond, a six-time NBA All-Star who capped his 14-year NBA career with a league title last season, was among 10 former Kansas State players Saturday named to the school’s All-Century Team.

Kansas State’s first season was in 1902-03; the All-Century team was honored at halftime of Kansas State’s 77-70 loss to Missouri.

Richmond, an All-America selection at forward in 1988 and the NBA’s Rookie of the Year in 1989, averaged 20.7 points per game at Kansas State. He was a member of the U.S. Olympic teams in 1988 and 1996.

He was joined on the All-Century team by guards Rolando Blackman, Mike Evans, Steve Henson, Lon Kruger and Chuckie Williams; forwards Ernie Barrett, Bob Boozer and Ed Nealy; and center Jack Parr.

The coaches were the late Jack Hartman (295-169 from 1970-86) and Tex Winter (262-117 from 1954-68).

Blackman, an All-American in 1980 and 1981, was an Olympian in 1980 and played 13 seasons in the NBA. Eleven of those were with the Dallas Mavericks, where he was a four-time All-Star.

Evans, Kansas State’s top career scorer with 2,115 points, is the only Wildcat player to pass the 2,000-point mark. He played nine years in the NBA after being taken by Denver in the first round of the 1978 draft.

Henson, the only Kansas State player to appear in four NCAA Tournaments, played six seasons in the NBA after graduating in 1990. He holds school career records with 240 three-pointers, 582 assists and 90 percent accuracy from the free-throw line.

He was also Kansas State’s most durable player, holding school records with 127 games played, 118 starts and 1,243 minutes.
