Hail falls on Lawrence

A Friday thunderstorm scattered dime-size hail in the Lawrence area with reports of penny-size hail in northwestern areas of the city.

Ross Janssen, 6News meteorologist, said he hadn’t heard any damage reports from hail in the Lawrence area, although there were reports of fallen tree limbs in Topeka. He said the storm moved east through the area at 20 mph.

As of 7 p.m. Friday Lawrence Municipal Airport reported 0.05 inch of rain. 6News Skyhawk Kenneth Blair reported receiving 0.11 inch of rain at his home in central Lawrence.

Tenants to Homeowners to offer home tour today

Tenants to Homeowners Inc. will have its 2003 Home Tour from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today.

Stops on the free tour include several nearly completed three-bedroom homes in eastern Lawrence and two houses designed by Kansas University architecture students.

The tour begins at 1718 Atherton Court, where refreshments will be served and participants can get maps to the other homes.
