Gosvener services

Services for Shirley E. Gosvener, 60, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Gosvener died Friday, June 20, 2003, in Lawrence.

She was born May 24, 1943, in Oak Park, Ill., the daughter of James C. and Mildred (Jones) Johnson. She graduated from high school in 1961 in Milan, Mo., and earned a business degree from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo.

Mrs. Gosvener was an administrative assistant for dentist Edward Manda at the time of her death. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school.

She married Robert S. Gosvener on Feb. 9, 1963, in Neosho, Mo. He died Oct. 23, 1991.

Survivors include a son, Mike Gosvener, Topeka; a brother, Tom Johnson, Milan, Mo.; and two sisters, Joyce Hayes, Milan, and Linda Page, Spring Hill.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday.
