Jennifer Brown, of Lawrence’s P.E.O. Chapter AZ, attended the convention of Kansas State Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood June 6-8 in Wichita. The theme was “P.E.O. A Celebration of Sharing and Caring.”

  • The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club met June 16 for its weekly game. Eleven and a half tables participated in a Stratified game that used a Mitchell movement. Virginia Seaver directed the game.

Competing North-South, Sally Taylor and Shirlie Vaughn claimed first place in A and B. Chris Lane and Klee Zaricky finished second in A and B. Don Brennaman and Olivier Urruty placed third in A and B and first in C. Dave Piro and Donna Johnson placed fourth in A, followed by Julia Dalton and Lester Dalton.

Sitting East-West, Betty Collier and Madelyn Jenks claimed first place in A and B. Terry Tolar and Vince Russo finished in second place in A and B. John Hickey and Patt Radford placed third. Gladys Turner and Max Turner came in fourth in A, third in B and first in C. Mona Bell and Julia Brooks placed fifth. Chuck Hedges and Yvonne Hedges finished fourth in B. Karen LaForce and Emily Foster placed second in C.

  • The Lawrence 299ers Duplicate Bridge Club met June 11 for its weekly game. Eleven pairs played a Stratified game that used a Howell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game. Chuck Hedges and Alice Leitch took first place in A. Dan Osman and Ann Thompson finished second in A and first in B and C. Eldon Herd and Glenna Herd placed third. Hellen Huffman and Bob Huffman were fourth in A and second in B. Gary Joyce and Mary Joyce finished fifth. Betty Spalsbury and Bob Anderson were third in B and second in C.
  • The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club met June 13 for its weekly game. Six and a half tables competed in a Stratified game that used a Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game.

Sitting North-South, Sally Taylor and Klee Zaricky finished in first place. Virginia Seaver and Chuck Hedges placed second. Clyde Romer and Patt Radford finished third. Shirlie Vaughn and Suzanne Wassmer placed first in B. Don Daugherty and Harry Talley placed first in C.

Playing East-West, Dave Piro and Paul Heitzman took first place. Lynn Hui and Harry Shaffer came in second. Madelyn Jenks and Mona Bell were first in B.

  • The University Bridge Club announces winners of its June 14 game, which was given by Karmi and Edna Galle and Carl and Isabel Schaake.

Blue winners were Al Smith, first; Leo Langlois, second; and Marian Davis, third.

Pink winners were Dottie Miller, first; Mildred Hoffman, second; and Marian Lang, third.
