Sixth report of intrusion revealed

Another woman has reported to Lawrence Police that she awoke to find a man she didn’t know in her bedroom.

The 20-year-old woman, who lives in the 2500 block of West 31st Street, reported the incident to police Tuesday morning but told officers the intrusion happened more than a week earlier — about 3:30 a.m. June 9.

In an interview with 6News, the victim said she woke up after the man got in bed with her, put his arm around her and called her by another woman’s name.

Police are now investigating six similar intrusions since June 1, each of which occurred between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. Most of the incidents have happened in areas populated by Kansas University students.

In all cases, the man left quickly after being confronted. But police are investigating whether, in two instances, the intruder touched the women inappropriately.

In three of those cases, including the most recent report, the women have described the intruder as a light-skinned black man just under 6 feet tall with a slight build, said Sgt. Mike Pattrick, a spokesman for the Lawrence Police Department.
