KU to announce name for engineering facility
Kansas University officials are expected to announce today that the new engineering building under construction will be named for Bob Eaton, a KU graduate and former chairman and CEO of Chrysler.
Eaton, 63, reportedly donated $5 million to the project, which was built with $15 million in private funds.
Eaton, a native of Arkansas City, graduated in 1963 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was president of General Motors in Europe from 1988 to 1992, when he was named vice president and chief operating officer of General Motors. A year later, he was elected to succeed Lee Iacocca as chairman and CEO of Chrysler. He retired in 2000.
