ATWOOD Officials of Wildlife and Parks will conduct a June 26 public tour of playa lakes near Atwood to see how to increase profitability on acres that rarely produce a crop and are difficult to farm.
Participants will learn more about playas and how to conserve these unique features of the western Kansas landscape and the wildlife they support.
Playa lakes, often called lagoons, are commonly financial "sinks" for crop producers in western Kansas. However, playas are a fascinating element of the western Kansas landscape.
The three-hour tour will begin at 8 a.m. in downtown Atwood.
