Derrick Weishaar, a member of Boy Scout Troop 59, chartered to First Presbyterian Church of Lawrence, recently received his God and Family Award. Derrick is the son of Gary and Beth Weishaar. The award is a religious emblem award, which he earned as a member of Cub Scout Pack 3052.

  • Cub Scout Pack 3051, chartered to Pinckney School, had its annual fishing derby June 7 at Bromelsick. The following Cub Scouts attended: Spencer Wilson, Christopher Sloan, Johnathan Roberts, Mason Robinson, Nilo Pena, Michael Robinson, Kelly Dunaway, Austin Garner, Diamond Brockway, Grant Stone, Dakota Zinn, William Gibson and Justin Stearns. Siblings and special guests of the Scouts also participated. They were Megan Roberts, Tucker Wilson, Paydon Wilson, Autumn Garner, Tyler Gibson, Nyla Pena, Cory Church and David Glauner.

Mason Robinson caught the biggest fish, a 15-inch large-mouth bass. Diamond Brockway caught the most fish. Dakota Zinn caught the first fish, and Nilo Pena earned a prize for sportsmanship.

David Berkowitz, former pack chairman, was host of the tournament. Harold Aiken, Cubmaster, was in charge of prizes and refreshments. Other parents and leaders who attended the event were Margot Cameron, Bob Garner, Rod Zinn, Eddie Wilson, Kim Aldridge, Linda Sloan, Stephen Roberts, Mark Stearns, David Dunaway, Luann Dunaway, Julie Anderson, Mike Stone, Sean Brockway, Ed Church, Carolyn Church and Don Stone.
