Shock rock Cleveland

? Hot-shooting Swin Cash scored 24 points and led the Detroit Shock to a 77-65 victory Tuesday night over the Cleveland Rockers.

Cash hit her first six shots of the second half — and 11-of-16 overall — to help the Shock turn a 40-35 halftime lead into a 69-51 advantage. Kedra Holland-Corn added a season-high 17 points.

Detroit won for the sixth time in seven games and opened a 31/2-game lead over Charlotte in the Eastern Conference. Penny Taylor scored 17 points to lead Cleveland, which dropped two games behind fourth-place Connecticut for the fourth and final playoff berth in the conference.

Cash used a variety of inside moves to lead Detroit in scoring for the 12th time this season and improve her average to a team-high 16.6 points.

Comets 73, Lynx 58

Houston — Janeth Arcain scored a season-high 20 points and Tina Thompson added 16 points for Houston. Sheri Sam led the Lynx (13-11) with 16 points. Houston improved to 16-1 in the all-time series.

Fever 92, Mystics 91, OT

Washington — Tamika Catchings capped her 30-point effort with a driving layup at the buzzer to give Indiana an overtime victory. She also had seven assists and six rebounds.

Mercury 66, Liberty 59

Phoenix — Slobodanka Tuvic had 17 points to help Phoenix snap a seven-game losing streak. New York (9-12) has lost a franchise-worst four straight game — all on the road.

Lisa Harrison scored 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting for Phoenix (4-18), which avoided breaking the franchise mark for consecutive losses.
