Lawrence violinist awarded grant

Lawrence violinist Mary Jo Stilp will attend private violin lessons at the International Musical Arts Institute in Maine, thanks to a grant from the Kansas Cultural Trust.

Stilp was awarded $1,000 as part of the second quarter of the Trust’s 2003 grant program, which awarded money to 13 Kansas artists. The group was founded in 1986 by Elizabeth B. Koch to help visual and creative artists overcome financial obstacles.

Money for the grants was made possible through the Charles G. Koch foundation.
