Jackson services

Graveside services for Walter Jackson, 76, Lawrence, will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Mr. Jackson died Friday, July 25, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 10, 1926, in Cincinnati, the son of George D. and Iona (Ashley) Jackson.

Mr. Jackson served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. Afterward, he was employed by Marcos de Niza High School, Tempe, Ariz., until his retirement in 1997.

He married Lois Jackson on Aug. 3, 1947, in St. Louis. She survives the home.

Other survivors include his mother, Tempe; two daughters, Carrie Neighbors and Nancy Winchester, both of Lawrence; a sister, Rowena Maines, Versailles, Ky.; and six grandchildren.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
