Huntington Beach, Calif. ? The body of an 18-year-old USC football recruit was recovered Saturday from waters southeast of Los Angeles.

The coroner’s office identified the body of Drean Rucker, an All-American linebacker from Canyon Springs High in Moreno Valley. Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Dave Wilson said Rucker appeared to have drowned. An autopsy was scheduled for today.

Rucker was expected to report for practice Aug. 5.

The 6-foot-2, 235-pound Rucker was considered among Southern California’s top high school linebackers last season. He had 153 tackles and two interceptions as Canyon Springs reached the Southern Section Division V semifinals.
