Jackson’s second-half surge powers Storm

? Lauren Jackson scored 22 of her 27 points in the second half and Amanda Lassiter added a career-high 16 points, leading the Seattle Storm to a 75-65 victory Wednesday over the New York Liberty.

Seattle (12-9) recorded its first-ever victory over the Liberty (9-9) and avoided its first three-game losing streak since starting the season 0-3.

Jackson, the WNBA scoring leader, had 14 points in the final seven minutes.

Vickie Johnson scored 13 of her 17 points in the second half for the Liberty, who had a two-game winning streak snapped. New York dropped to 1-6 on the road.

Uncasville, Conn. — Shannon Johnson had 20 points and five assists as Connecticut beat Minnesota for its third straight victory. Johnson was 11-for-14 from the free-throw line, and the Sun made eight foul shots in the final 1:17. Sheri Sam had 17 points and five rebounds for the Lynx (11-10). Jordan Adams had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Fever 81, Silver Stars 47

Indianapolis — Kelly Schumacher scored a career-high 22 points and tied a career high with nine rebounds for Indiana. The Fever (11-9) avoided losing three straight for the first time this season and improved to 9-1 at home. The Stars (6-15) shot 24 percent.
