Miller services

— Services for Lloyd D. Miller, 87, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Breit & Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, Mo.

Mr. Miller died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at his home.

He was born May 25, 1916, in Savannah, the son of Daniel E. and Minnie C. (Wiedmer) Miller. He graduated from University of Missouri-Columbia in 1941. He also was a Realtors Institute graduate.

Mr. Miller was a reporter, writer, photographer and market editor for Corn Belt Farm Dailies, Chicago, and Kansas City, Mo. He became director of public relations for American Angus Association of Chicago, and he later was named executive secretary. He also was a Realtor with Prudential-Summers Realtors from 1978 until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of Wyatt Park Baptist Church, St. Joseph,, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of Moila Temple Shrine, Kiwanis, Sigma Delta Chi and Million Dollar Sales Club of Missouri Realtors.

Mr. Miller was awarded the Distinguished Realtor Award of the St. Joseph Regional Association of Realtors in 2000 and given a faculty/alumni award from MU.

Mr. Miller was chairman of the board of Heartland Centre, a member of the board of directors of the St. Joseph Development Corporation, president of the St. Joseph Area Chamber of Commerce, president of the St. Joseph Association of Realtors, chairman of Missouri Western State College Foundation and vice president of the Missouri chapter of the American Angus Assn.

He married Mabel G. Kurz on June 9, 1939, in Lawrence. She died Jan. 31, 2000.

Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Miller and Donna Bodinson, both of Kansas City, Mo., and Rosemary Miller, Lawrence, Kan.; a son, Jeffrey, Lawrence, Kan.; six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
