Repugnant

To the editor:

Regarding “Parents: Be Wary in Lawrence” (J-W, Tuesday):

Discussing his daughter’s recent encounter with a predatory Lawrence resident, Mr. Williams writes that having “taught our daughter that a person’s race is not relevant to anything, she was not prepared to doubt (the gentleman’s) sophisticated ‘come-on.'” I’m not sure I entirely understand Mr. Williams’ import: Is he regretting having taught his daughter that race is “not relevant to anything” or is he implying that, in this case, racial prejudice could have saved the girl from such “bad people?”

I find Mr. Williams’ sentiment nothing short of repugnant.
