Raiders rout Olathe East

? Matt Berner carried a perfect game into the fourth inning, and the Lawrence Raiders rolled to an 11-1, run rule-shortened American Legion baseball rout Friday of Olathe East.

Berner (2-0) lost the perfect game on an error — a dropped outfield fly — in the fourth and settled for a four-hitter.

Andrew Pyle paced the Raiders offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Dominick Harrell was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a home run. Aaron Madill also contributed three RBIs.

“It’s fun to play these kinds of games every now and then,” coach Carl Brooks said. “Everybody plays, and there’s always an incident or two you can talk about at the end of the season. Other than that, we got batting practice against somebody else.”

Lawrence (24-10) will play host to Chanute in a doubleheader at noon today at Free State High.
