Several hundred youngsters are in Lawrence this weekend for the Mid America Youth Basketball Tournament at Sport2Sport and other locales.

In all, players representing 196 teams from Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Colorado, Iowa and Oklahoma are competing in the MAYB tournament — the sixth sponsored by Sport2Sport since December.

The boys and girls age groups range from fourth grade through senior year of high school.

Almost all the gyms in town are being used, including gyms at Haskell and Kansas’ Horejsi Center, plus gyms in Eudora and Baldwin.

The tourney started Friday and runs through Sunday.
