Firefighters look for cause of Old West Lawrence blaze

Lawrence firefighters were looking for a cause this afternoon for a fire that caused major damage to a home in Old West Lawrence.

The fire, which broke out about 1:45 p.m. Monday at 820 Ark., was extinguished by firefighters within an hour. The fire caused major damage to most of the single-story home’s interior.

Mark Bradford, deputy chief for Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical, said no one was at home when the fire started .

Bradford said investigators were looking for a cause Monday afternoon. The fire began near the rear of the house.
