New York ? The flip-flop has come a long way from its dime-store origins, says TV talk show host Star Jones, the chief of consumer style for Payless ShoeSource. The minimal sandal is now a must-have for the beach and the office.

“There’s a flip-flop for everyone and every event this summer,” she says.

According to Jones, the season’s hottest looks feature bright summer colors and decorative details, including braiding, buckles, flowers and sequins.

The other stars of this summer’s shoe season, Jones says, are the espadrille with its hallmark jute-wrapped wedge sole and the wood-soled sandal.
