Leona Congrove

ATCHISON ? Services for Leona Congrove, 91, Effingham, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Effingham.

Mrs. Congrove died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Atchison Hospital.

She was born May 9, 1912, in Yates Center, the daughter of James W. and Effie L. (Carson) Jarratt.

Mrs. Congrove was a homemaker. She also briefly worked for South Creek School, Effingham, and drove a school bus. She was a member of Effingham Christian Church.

She married Ernest A. Congrove on May 5, 1934, near Effingham. He died March 1, 1988.

Survivors include three sons, Gerald Congrove, Kansas City, Kan., Jim Congrove, Lawrence, and Bob Congrove, Topeka; a daughter, Carolyn Taliaferro, Effingham; a brother, Paul Jarratt, Kansas City, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday.

The family suggests memorials to ACCHS Centennial Scholarship Fund or Effingham Rescue Unit, sent in care of the funeral home, 800 Kansas Ave., Atchison 66002.
