The bimonthly meeting of the Douglas County 4-H Council was called to order by Cybill Milburn, president, on Dec. 16 at the Douglas County Extension Office. Roll call was taken by Casey Davis, secretary. She also read thank-you notes. Scott Bronoski gave a parliamentarian tip. Reagon Heikes gave the treasurer’s report.

Mark Flory and Megan Brown gave the fair board report.

Cathy Musick, 4-H agent, talked about County Club Days and exchanging judges with Shawnee County on Feb. 22. She said judges were needed for area record book judging on Jan. 30 in Manhattan. The council also discussed the Bromelsick Christmas party.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 12. The concession stand committee will meet at 6:15 p.m.

The Douglas County Dairy Club met Jan. 19 at the Vinland Methodist Church. Kalli Keen, president, called the meeting to order. Bailey Brown read the minutes from the last meeting. The club discussed the upcoming Spring Beef Show concessions. They also voted to buy shirts to wear at shows and community service events.

The club voted to donate money to the All Breeds Junior Dairy Show in Salina. The money is used to buy awards and for room rent at the Judging School and Quiz Bowl.

Club members worked on the Holstein World All-American Judging Contest. The results of the judging will be faxed in by Carol Keen, club leader.

The next meeting will be at 4 p.m. Feb. 9 at the church. Members will work on the Hoard Dairyman Judging Contest and beef show concessions and plan a trip to a dairy.

The Meadowlark 4-H Club met Jan. 14 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds. Samie Milligan presided over the meeting. Members answered roll call by naming a New Year’s resolution. The club discussed the upcoming County Club Days. Blake Fox was introduced as a guest. Members voted to donate money toward Margaret Pendleton’s trip to Washington, D.C., this summer. Members participated in a survey about 4-H.

The McElhaney family will be hosts for the February meeting. The program will be given by the Home Environment and Citizenship project members.
