Vivian V. Mier

? Services for Vivian V. Mier, 86, Topeka, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Parker-Price Chapel in Topeka. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Atchison.

Mrs. Mier died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at a Topeka hospital.

She was born June 25, 1916, in Vale, Iowa, the daughter of James M. and Mary (Whaley) Knight. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in Effingham. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Topeka.

Mrs. Mier farmed in Lancaster until she and her husband moved to Atchison in 1948. In 1965 the Miers moved to Lawrence and became superintendents at Oak Hill Cemetery. She held this position and managed the cemetery until she retired in 1986. She moved to Topeka after retirement.

She married Clarence L. Mier on April 23, 1938, in Lancaster. He died March 31, 1972.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Hren, Topeka; Connie Walker, St. Charles, Mo.; a sister, Ethel Ingram, Topeka; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at Parker-Price Mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
