Hugh Melvyn Goldberg

? Services for Hugh Melvyn Goldberg, 64, Altoona, Pa., were Sunday at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home in Altoona. Burial was in Agudath Achim Cemetery, Altoona.

Mr. Goldberg died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at his home.

He was born Dec. 4, 1938, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Simon and Ettie (Katz) Goldberg. He graduated from Brooklyn High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from New York University.

Mr. Goldberg owned and operated Subway Stamp Shop Inc., founded by his father, in New York. He was a member of American Stamp Dealers Assn., American Philatelic Society and Agudath Achim Synagogue.

He married Virginia Barresi on Dec. 20, 1975, in Manalapan, N.J. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include five daughters, Caryn Goldberg, Lawrence, Kan., Wanda Gonzales, Altoona, Lauren Pacheco, Orlando, Fla., Maria-Jo Lastra, Lakemont, Pa., and Jennifer Applequist, Morristown, N.J.; two sons, Barry, West Long Branch, N.J., and Walter Funk, San Francisco; his mother, New York; and 14 grandchildren.
