Emma Elletta Hargadine

Services for Emma Elletta Hargadine, 90, Overland Park, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Hargadine died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, in Overland Park.

She was born Jan. 14, 1913, in Stevens County, the daughter of Wade Graham and Elletta May (Swafford) Gaddis. She grew up in Haviland and graduated from Friends Academy in Haviland in 1931. She attended Fort Hays State University.

Mrs. Hargadine, formerly of Lawrence, was a homemaker and taught in Sitka and Ashland. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Kappa Kappa Iota, Crafts Club and Douglas County Retired Teacher’s Assn.

She married C. DeLoss Hargadine on May 21, 1939, in Kinsley. He died Dec. 6, 2002.

Survivors include a daughter, Mona Hargadine, Overland Park; a son, Doug Hargadine, Overland Park; three sisters, Margie King, Whittier, Calif., Maxine Morris, Nampa, Idaho, and Rowena Robbins, Mancos, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the funeral home.
