Lance and Gretchen Herron, Lawrence, announce the birth of a son, Keaton Archer Heron, born Dec. 26, 2002, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

He has a sister, Jensen Taylor Herron, 4, and a brother, Braeden Cooper Herron, 18 months.

Grandparents are Jackie and John Ayler, Eudora, and Vicki Maykulsky, Lawrence.

Great-grandparents are Ab and Treavha Hall, Eudora; Richard and Dorothy Ayler, Garden City, Mo.; and A.J. and Lois Herron, Wichita.

Ruthie and Bryan Dolezal, Lohrville, Iowa, formerly of Lawrence, announce the birth of a son, Caidan Joseph “C.J.” Dolezal, born Jan. 3, 2003, at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City, Iowa.

C.J. has two brothers, Andrew, 9, and Derrick, 19 months.

Grandparents are Betsie and Gary Brown, Churdan, Iowa, and Beverly and Loren Dolezal, Lawrence. Great-grandmother is Marcella Dolezal, Belleville.

Ron Foster, Lawrence, is having a retirement party from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Knights of Columbus. Foster, 60, who is a lifelong Lawrence resident, began working in 1960 at Brune Plumbing. He is retiring from Huxtable and Associates. He requests no gifts.

Benedictine College, Atchison, announces area students who made the Dean’s List for the 2002 fall semester. They are Theresa Fulks, Eudora; Patricia Leistner, Lawrence; Rebecca Ross, Oskaloosa; and Kara Mark, Tonganoxie.

Annie Davidson, Kansas University senior, is a division winner in the Music Teachers National Assn. Collegiate Artist Woodwind competition. She will travel to Salt Lake City in March to compete as a national finalist.

Jacqueline Ann Dubois, Lawrence, earned a 4.0 grade-point average and was listed on the honor roll during the fall 2002 semester at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Okla.

Sarah Szabo, a Lawrence High School senior, has been awarded a $3,000 scholarship for outstanding scholastic achievement at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis. The scholarship is renewable annually with demonstration of continued academic excellence. She is the daughter of Robert and Margo Szabo, Lawrence.

Joanna Beard and Ben Jensen, both of Lawrence, made the Dean’s List for the fall 2002 semester at Sterling College by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average. Beard is the daughter of Phil and Eileen Beard. Jensen is the son of Tim and Cindy Jensen.

Martha Boatright, Lawrence, made the Dean’s List at Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio, by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average. She is the daughter of Kevin and Deborah Boatright.

Antonina Radeva, Baldwin, and Christy Wheeler, Lawrence, were named to the Dean’s List at William Jewell College for the 2002 fall semester by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average.

The Lawrence Accredited Music Teachers Assn. will present two recitals Thursday at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 N.H.

Students who will perform during the 7 p.m. recital are Naomi Kurata, Mariam Ali, Carl Palmquist, Cal Young, Wagner Tong, Nora Elbayoumy, Helen Hawkins, Gina tong, Margaret Bireta, Eric Palmquist, Andrew Woodhead, Sarah Rucker, Zach Stites, Genevieve Rucket, Kristin Capps, Kassandra Williams, Flora Jiang and Sarah Elbayoumy.

Students performing in the 8 p.m. recital are Samantha Schueler, Alexander Casad, Adrienne Willems, Megham Lilley, Alison King, Carly Sakumura, Gina Lorenz, Erin Bennett, Colin Hamel, Dyana Lawrence, Kyle Chauvin, Flora Jiang and Sarah Elbayoumy.

Students are from the studios of Carol Cook, Mary Cornwell, Elaine de San Miguel, Alice Downs, Jean Drumm and Eric Sakamura.
