Richard Charles Winchester

Ottawa — Graveside services for Richard Charles Winchester, 57, Lenexa, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. He will be cremated.

Mr. Winchester died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at his home.

He was born April 10, 1945, in Chicago, the son of Robert and Verna Ann (Hess) Winchester.

He and his family moved to Ottawa in 1948. He was an honor-roll student at Ottawa High School, where he earned the honor of Mr. OHS and lettered in basketball and track.

He graduated from Ottawa University in 1968 with an education degree. He taught general science and chemistry and coached basketball and tennis in Kansas and Florida, and he moved to Lenexa in 1989.

He is survived by his mother, Ottawa, and a brother, David Robert, New Braunfels, Tex.

The family will receive friends starting at 1 p.m. Tuesday before going to the cemetery. The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church of Ottawa, sent in care of the Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa 66067.
