Norma ‘Sue’ Bastemeyer
Wagner, S.D. ? Services for Norma “Sue” Bastemeyer, 77, Wagner, S.D., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Wagner. Burial will be in ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner.
Mrs. Bastemeyer died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner.
She was born Sept. 1, 1925, in El Dorado, Kan., the daughter of James and Sara (Dunn) Garberick. She graduated from Wichita East High School in 1943 and attended Wichita State University, University of Colorado, Kansas State University and Kansas University. She moved to Wagner in 1947.
Mrs. Bastemeyer worked for the city of Wagner for 28 years as manager of the Liquor Store. She entered Good Samaritan Nursing Center on Jan. 16, 2002, because of failing health. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Wagner, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Women’s International Bowling Congress and Randall Hills Country Club.
She married Melvern Bastemeyer on June 8, 1947. He died in 1970.
Survivors include six daughters, Dana Groom and Deb Abdouch, both of Sioux Falls, Sandy Fechner, DeElla Soukup and Paula Tuttle, all of Wagner, and Carla Grosshuesch, Springfield; three sons, Mark Bastemeyer, Rick Bastemeyer and Craig Bastemeyer, all of Lawrence, Kan.; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
An infant son, Dennis Bastemeyer, died in 1950, and a granddaughter died in 1981.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church, where a prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. today.
