K-State wins sixth straight

? Kansas State guard Tim Ellis won’t try and hide it. He knows Kansas State doesn’t have one dominant player.

In their last six games, the Wildcats needed four balanced players to do the trick. Thursday night was no different.

Pervis Pasco had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and three other players scored in double figures to lead Kansas State past Saint Louis 65-48.

Gilson DeJesus scored 14, Matt Siebrandt added 13 and Ellis had 10 in his first college start.

“We’ve grown a lot since the beginning of the year,” Ellis said. “We know that we need each other. We don’t have one superstar, so we need everyone to win.”

Kansas State (8-4) pulled away from the Billikens (5-5) early in the second half to win its sixth straight, the Wildcat’s longest winning streak since 1998 and coach Jim Wooldridge’s longest in his three years as head coach.

During the winning streak, Kansas State has had four players score in double figures in each game.

“We’re playing really well,” Siebrandt said. “Everything is clicking. We feel like we are a good team and we have to keep playing together.”

Pasco’s jumper with 17:56 remaining ignited a 12-0 Wildcat run that put Kansas State up 48-28 with 14:17 left. Saint Louis would trim that lead to 14, but couldn’t get any closer.

The Wildcats also won their fourth straight against the Billikens.

Saint Louis has lost all three of its road games this season.

Anthony Drejaj scored 19 points and Chris Braun had nine for the Billikens.

The Wildcats outrebounded the Billikens 37-24 and held them to 36 percent shooting from the field. K-State has held its opponents below 40 percent shooting in nine games.

“Our team defense was outstanding,” Wooldridge said. “We played more zone to slow them down.”

KSU led by as many as 14 in the first half, but Marque Perry hit a three-pointer with 58.3 seconds to play to make it 36-25 at halftime. It was the only shot made by Perry, who was averaging 17 points a game.

“That was definitely one of the keys to success,” Wooldridge said. “I really have a lot of respect for that kid.”

Texas A&M 90, Centenary 66

College Station, Texas — Antoine Wright scored 22 points and Bernard King added a double-double as the Aggies rolled past Centenary.

Texas A&M (8-3) went on an early 13-0 run to take a 15-2 lead and never trailed.

King scored 17 points and had 10 assists for his second double-double.

Centenary (5-7) lost its third straight game and was outscored by 24 points for the second straight game.

Andrew Wisniewski scored 23 first-half points for the Gents to cut an early Aggies lead to 39-36 at halftime. Centenary cut the lead to one point on the opening possession of the second half.

Texas A&M responded with a 15-0 run early in the half to take a 54-38 lead.

Wisniewski picked up his third and fourth fouls in the first seven minutes of the second half and did not score the entire period as A&M cruised through the final 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, King picked up his scoring for the Aggies, scoring 15 of his points in the final period and adding seven assists down the stretch.

Leandro Garcia-Morales added a season high 16 points for the Aggies.

A&M shot 60 percent for the game and scored 27 points at the free-throw line on 37 attempts.

Centenary committed 29 fouls during the game as the starting line-up got in foul trouble early in the second half. The Gents were also plagued by a 23-12 turnover deficit.
