Melvin ‘Budd’ Hansen

? Services for Melvin “Budd” Hansen, 78, Smith Center, were Wednesday at Simmons Mortuary Chapel in Smith Center. Inurnment was in Fairview Cemetery, Smith Center.

Mr. Hansen died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at Smith County Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 28, 1924, in Lucan, Minn., the son of William and Minnie (Haag) Hansen.

Mr. Hansen was a retired salvage dealer. He was a member of First Christian Church and life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Smith Center. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

He married Della Mullin on July 20, 1962. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include five sons, Terry, Joplin, Mo., Michael, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Stanley, Redwood, Minn., Mark, Franklin, Minn., and Kim, Mankato, Minn; three daughters, Gayle Peterson, St. Cloud, Minn., Debra Hansen and Lori Cheney, both of Park Rapids, Minn.; two stepsons, Larry Thompson, Topeka, and Edward Thompson, Plainville; a stepdaughter, Debra Cotton, Lawrence; two sisters, Verna Ness, North Redwood, Minn., and Donna Munson, Walnut Grove, Minn.; many grandchildren, including Victoria Bridges and Terry Bridges, whom he helped raise, and many great-grandchildren.

A son, Steve, died earlier.
