Law enforcement report

  • A 19-year-old woman left a toddler and an infant alone in a running car for about 10 minutes Thursday night in the 3200 block of Iowa Street, prompting someone to call police.

Lawrence Police interviewed the woman, took a report and forwarded it to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office for possible action, Sgt. Mike Pattrick said. Pattrick said he didn’t know who called police.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • Two people reported compact discs stolen from their cars in the 5000 block of Clinton Parkway during roughly the same time frame last week, according to police reports.

A 22-year-old Lawrence woman told police someone damaged a door lock on her car and stole compact discs worth $2,000, according to a report. The theft happened sometime between 6 p.m. Feb. 18 and 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.

A 23-year-old Lawrence man reported a similar theft between 11:15 p.m. Feb. 18 and 8 a.m. Wednesday. He lost a $250 compact-disc player and discs worth $1,000, and whoever stole the goods damaged his Nissan to get to them, he told police.

  • A thief broke a window on a Honda in the 2500 block of West 31st Street and stole property worth $1,350, according to a police report. The stolen goods include a radar detector and 100 compact discs valued at $10 each. The victim, an 18-year-old Lawrence man, said the theft happened sometime between 3:30 p.m. Feb. 18 and 3:55 a.m. Wednesday.
  • A 48-year-old Lawrence man said someone stole his landscape trailer worth $1,500 from a plot of land in the 1000 section of East 900 Road. The man last saw the 16-foot trailer around Feb. 1, and he noticed Saturday it was missing, said Lt. Kathy Tate, a spokeswoman for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.
