Hawn enters ‘literary world’

New York — Goldie Hawn is writing a memoir, “A Lotus Grows in the Mud,” that will cover everything from her childhood to her life with Kurt Russell to her acting career. But don’t expect any celebrity gossip.

According to publisher G.P. Putnam’s Sons, Hawn’s book will not be a Hollywood tell-all “but rather a very personal, spiritual reflection on her life.” The memoir is scheduled to come out in 2004.

“I am thrilled and honored to be making my maiden voyage into the literary world,” Hawn said in a statement Wednesday.

Hasselhoff, wife injured in motorcycle accident

Los Angeles — David Hasselhoff and his wife suffered broken bones when the actor lost control of the motorcycle they were riding and hit a sidewalk curb, police said.

Strong gusty winds were blamed for the crash Thursday afternoon, police said.

The crash threw Hasselhoff against a light pole, while his wife, actress Pamela Bach, fell onto the shoulder of the road. Police said both were wearing helmets.

They were taken to UCLA Medical Center, where Hasselhoff, 50, was treated for possible lower back fractures, a broken rib and cuts and bruises, according to police. Bach, 39, was treated for a fractured ankle and broken wrist.

“They’re in stable condition,” said Warren Cowan, a publicist for Hasselhoff.

Schroder a super landowner

Grand Junction, Colo. — Former “NYPD Blue” star Rick Schroder and a Colorado ranching family are the recipients of “Landowner of the Year” awards from the Colorado Division of Wildlife.

Schroder and the family of Bill Canterbury were selected for their efforts to improve wildlife habitat, minimize livestock damage and protect water.

“Rick puts his money where his mouth is,” said John Ellenberger, the Division of Wildlife’s big-game manager.

Schroder, 32, played Detective Danny Sorenson on the ABC crime drama “NYPD Blue” from 1998 to 2001.

He owns the 15,500-acre Mesa Mood Ranch near Grand Junction. The Canterbury family owns a 1,000-acre ranch near Salida.

Dion changing digs

Jupiter, Fla. — Celine Dion plans to build a new home in one of Palm Beach’s most exclusive golf-course developments.

Dion, who recently sold her previous Jupiter home, paid $3.5 million for three acres of waterfront land in Jack Nicklaus’ The Bear’s Club.

The 34-year-old singer said she chose the community for its “exceptional privacy and security.”

“We love the Jupiter area,” Dion said in a statement e-mailed to The Palm Beach Post. “We love Jack and Barbara Nicklaus and their family.”

Dion opens next month at Caesars Palace hotel-casino in Las Vegas for a three-year concert engagement.
